Tom is a seasoned IP attorney with 14 years’ experience in private practice and as an in-house corporate attorney. Tom currently is the Associate General Counsel IP for the Vascular Therapies business unit of Covidien, a leading global medical device company. In his role at Covidien, Tom handles all IP issues for his business, including patents, trademarks, copyright and confidentiality issues, and works on a daily basis with R&D, marketing and sales. Prior to joining Covidien, Tom spent 10 years in two leading law firms, as both a litigator and patent prosecutor. He handled IP issues for clients in various technology fields, including medical devices, software, sporting goods and bullet proof technology. Prior to becoming an attorney, Tom spent 10 years as an engineer working on various technologies in a research lab setting. He earned a JD from Suffolk Law School and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the New York Institute of Technology.
